June 2, 2026 4:56 PM
PST

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has warned the public to be cautious when looking for overseas employment on social media platforms, amid fraudulent job offers abroad.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac reminded applicants to verify the legitimacy of the recruitment agency when looking for a job. The legal agency must possess a valid license from the department.

Cacdac also emphasized that having a physical office, social media page, or an association with a foreigner is not enough to define the legality of an agency.

“Pinaalalahanan ni Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac ang publiko na hindi sapat na may opisina, social media page, o foreigner na kasama ang isang grupo upang masabing legal itong recruitment agency,” based on DMW’s online-issued statement

[“Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac is reminding the public that it’s not enough that it has an office, social media page, or has a presence of foreigner in a group to say that the recruitment agency is legal.”]

The DMW advised applicants to carefully check all necessary documents and to always ask for official receipts for every transaction.
