LVCC stays firm to its full scholarship commitment vs recent false claims

February 8, 2026 8:13 PM
PST

The La Verdad Christian College (both Apalit and Caloocan branch) has issued a statement, strongly reiterating its commitment to providing full scholarship programs at all levels and courses.

The official statement was made, serving as a response against the false claims that the institution is offering courses like Tourism Management and Hotel and Restaurant Management, online or short-term degree programs, and collecting any fees.

Also, one graduate claims to have graduated from online degree programs and was victimized by online scams.

Hence, the LVCC breaks the silence and clarifies that they are not offering those courses.

“LVCC further clarifies that Tourism Management and Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) are not offered in any LVCC campus,” they stated

“LVCC is likewise not affiliated, connected, or associated with any institution, group, or individual offering pure online or short-term degree programs, including those claiming to offer Tourism Management or HRM,” they added

Moreover, the LVCC Caloocan and Apalit never ask for any fees, staying firm to its commitment in providing free education to those in need.

“The Institution does not collect tuition fees, enrollment fees, or any form of payment from its students,” according to the issued statement of the institution

Art for a cause initiative in Sagay City, Negros Occidental

February 4, 2026 9:27 PM
PST

The art is commonly known as a profound reflection of someone’s identity and expression.

But would you believe that this could be an instrument for disaster response?

In Sagay City, Negros Occidental, the Visual Arts Program of Sagay National High School is actively implementing the “art for the cause” initiative.

The program is intended to generate sufficient funds to support communities affected by flooding in the city.

The art cause initiative is conducted through a bidding system. The selected artworks from the First Semester Visual Arts Exhibition were made available for bidding, according to the institution.

The interested individual may drop their bidding price in the comment section of each artwork post. The highest bidding offer may get the piece.

Furthermore, the art-making activity was originally a part of their academic requirements, but the institution decided to make these artworks as an instrument for community response.

“The initiative was conceptualized as a way for students to respond to a community need through their artworks, which were originally created as part of their academic requirements.” they said

Asia Rose Simpson wins Miss World Philippines 2026

February 10, 2026 6:36 PM
PST

A Quezon City bet, Asia Rose Simpson, was crowned Miss World Philippines 2026 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

At the age of 17, Simpson stood as the youngest contestant among 23 aspirants.

Her winning answer in the Q&A was breathtaking, acknowledging the role of social media in addressing mental health issues among youth.

Here’s the full transcription of the question and answer portion:

Question:

Do you believe social media has helped or hurt society?

Answer:

Mental health issues are on rise. One in seven children worldwide experience mental health disorders and the World Health Organization relays that 80% of adolescents don't meet the recommended levels of activity. That’s where SED initiative comes in, my sports and dance initiative that specifically advocates for the physical, mental, and emotional health of today's youth. Social media, while it can have so many benefits, it helps us all promote different businesses or organizations that helps us succeed. However, I think it has also been used as a crutch for our creativity, for our social skills. So let's use social media responsibly. Thank you.

She was crowned by Krishnah Gravidez (2025 Miss World Philippines) and Opal Suchata Chuangsri (incumbent Miss World 2025).

Simpson is set to represent the Philippines in the International Miss World pageant.
