CAAP The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has reiterated that pointing laser beams and high-intensity lights at aircraft is strictly prohibited.

According to CAAP, this is dangerous as it may trigger distraction, confusion, and affect the pilot’s vision, which may eventually affect the aircraft’s operations.

Under the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulations, it is not allowed to intentionally point the laser beam or any similar high-intensity light at an aircraft.

“The Philippine Civil Aviation Regulations (PCAR) Part 8.5.1.29 stated that “no person shall intentionally project a laser beam or direct a high-intensity light at an aircraft which can result in distraction, disruption, disorientation, and in extreme cases, incapacitation, adversely affect the ability of the flight crew to carry out their responsibilities, especially during take off and landing,” according to CAAP

Violators may face legal punishment if found guilty, in accordance with RA 9497 or Civil Aviation Authority Act of 2008.
