Tinagong Dagat is one of the top trekking destinations in the Philippines. Located in Mount Mandalagan in Silay City, this breathtaking area transforms into a lake during the wet season and into grassland during the dry season.

The  Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) plans to conduct an environmental monitoring and policy guidelines review in the area.

Trekking activity will be available until February 15, 2026, and will be temporarily closed starting February 16, 2026.

The agency will announce a resumption date for the trekking activity soon

For those interested in trekking, the Northern Negros Natural Park (NNNP) -Protected Area Management Office is still issuing trekking permits before the temporary closure.

With reports from Allan Manansala.
