The National Capital Police Office (NCRPO) reported a total of 24, 881 violators of various ordinances in Metro Manila.
Recorded offenses, according to NCRPO, include:
- Drinking and smoking in public - 8,075
- Roaming the streets without shirt - 2,672
- Minors violating curfew hours - 2,245
- Using karaoke beyond allowed time - 584
- Other violations - 11,300
The ordinances that are being strictly enforced in Metro Manila are in accordance with the Safer Cities Initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Key restrictions include a public drinking ban, shirtless roaming, a 10:00 PM curfew for minors, and a karaoke cutoff.
According to NCRPO Spokesperson PMaj Hazel Asilo, on-duty officers are equipped with body cameras to ensure they perform their duties with integrity.
“Para ma-ensure yung transparency at wala pong abuse na ginagawa ang ating mga kapulisan, lahat po sila ay equipped ng body-worn cameras,” she said
[“To ensure transparency and prevent any abuse of authority by our police force, all of them are equipped with body-worn cameras.”]
PMaj Asilo also added that if a body camera fails to capture police misconduct, witnesses are encouraged to come forward and file a formal complaint for immediate action.
