In the issued statement of the Department of Tourism (DOT), the agency claims that the tourism sector has the largest multiplier effect in the Philippine economy, contributing 8.9% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2024.
DOT also mentioned the high Return on Investment (ROI), explaining that there is ₱5.50 in income for every ₱1.00 investment.
The number of Filipinos employed has climbed to 16.4 million.
With these figures, DOT believes that tourism paves the way for employment.
The department cited its ongoing initiatives in training, upskilling, and providing livelihood opportunities for tourism stakeholders.
In 2025, 140,155 people completed training under the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE).
Additionally, 2,543 training sessions were provided to 143,975 stakeholders through Tourism Industry Skills Program (TISP).
