Orani, Bataan City – As the country faces a growing number of disasters, the readiness of rescuers is also being strengthened.

UNTV News and Rescue aims to establish the KDR Adventure Camp as a world-class rescue training center that could become the rescue hub or rescue capital of the Philippines.

In his statement, Kuya Daniel Razon expressed his hope that, with God's help, the site would become a center for rescue training for the Philippines.

"I'm really inclined na sa tulong at awa ng Panginoon. Itong dako natin dito ay maging isang sentro ng Rescue Training sa buong Pilipinas."

[I'm really inclined, with the help and mercy of the Lord, that this place of ours will become a center for Rescue Training for the whole Philippines.]

A center for life-saving training during disasters and calamities, this is the broad vision of Kuya Daniel Razon for the KDR Adventure Camp, aimed at shaping emergency responders with complete skills who are ready to respond to different kinds of emergencies whenever needed.

As part of the preparation, the camp's facilities are being continuously developed to keep up with modern standards of rescue training.

In his statement, Kuya Daniel Razon shared an update on the rescue tower, noting that it will continue to be developed for use in training, along with other facilities currently being worked on such as collapsed structures and vehicles that can be used for training.

"Ako po ay nasasabik na ibinabalita sa inyo na naumpisahan na natin yung rescue tower. Pero yun po ay magiging patuluyan na idedevelop natin para magamit sa training. Including po yung ngayon na ating sinisikap na magawa mga pasilidad kagaya po ng mga collapsed structure, yung mga vehicle na puwedeng magamit."

[I'm excited to share with you that we have already started the rescue tower. But that will be continuously developed so it can be used for training. Including what we are currently working on, such as facilities like collapsed structures and vehicles that can be used.]

Aside from the rescue tower, the camp will also build a collapsed structure suited for urban search and rescue, set up vehicles for vehicle extrication, and create training areas where actual rescue scenarios can be simulated.

In his statement, Kuya Daniel Razon emphasized the value of families having at least one member trained in rescue or first aid:

"Alam mo, yung hindi ka lang problemahin, malaking tulong na yun kasi alam mo na yung gagawin mo. Kaya kung ang bawat pamilya ay mayroon din sanang nag-training, sa bawat pamilya mayroong isang marunong mag-rescue o yung nanay at tatay marunong man lang ng first aid."

[You know, it's already a big help just knowing that you won't be a problem [to others] because you already know what to do. That's why it would help if every family had someone trained — someone in each family who knows how to rescue, or at least a mother and father who know first aid.]

According to him, it is a big help if even just one family member has knowledge of first aid and basic rescue training, since the first few minutes of an emergency are the most critical in saving lives.

Kuya Daniel is also pushing for large companies to have their own rescue teams, so that they are not solely dependent on government responders, especially during widespread disasters.

In his statement, Kuya Daniel Razon suggested that it could be considered to make it mandatory, through a law, for companies of a certain size to have their own rescue team:

"Ang isa lang po na maaaring baka puwedeng pag-isipan, kung paanong magiging mandatory sa pamamagitan ng isang batas, na ang bawat kumpanya na mayroong size na hihigit — halimbawa, to a certain number, kung ano yung nakikita ninyong pangangailangan. Halimbawa, for example, bawat kumpanya na ang size ay nasa 200 or 500 — kung may 500 ka nang employee, specially kung yan ay nasa isang building, nasa isang lugar, dapat maging mandatory na mayroon kayong sarili ninyong rescue team na pwedeng makagawa. Kaya, di po ba, sinikap natin — lahat ng mga empleyado ng UNTV dapat mayroon kayong training sa first aid, sa kung ano pa man, lahat."

[The only thing that might be worth considering is how to make it mandatory through a law — that every company with a size exceeding, for example, a certain number, depending on what you see as the need. For example, every company with a size of around 200 or 500 — if you already have 500 employees, especially if they're in one building, in one location, it should be mandatory that you have your own rescue team that can respond. That's why we made an effort — all UNTV employees should have training in first aid, and whatever else, all of it.]

As an established rescue unit, UNTV News and Rescue has been providing free basic first aid and basic life support training to companies, organizations, and communities, in line with the advocacy started by Kuya Daniel of "Tulong muna, bago balita.”

With the fulfillment of these plans, Kuya Daniel hopes that a strong culture of preparedness and rescue will be built so that more lives can be saved during times of calamity and emergency.
