The art is commonly known as a profound reflection of someone’s identity and expression.
But would you believe that this could be an instrument for disaster response?
In Sagay City, Negros Occidental, the Visual Arts Program of Sagay National High School is actively implementing the “art for the cause” initiative.
The program is intended to generate sufficient funds to support communities affected by flooding in the city.
The art cause initiative is conducted through a bidding system. The selected artworks from the First Semester Visual Arts Exhibition were made available for bidding, according to the institution.
The interested individual may drop their bidding price in the comment section of each artwork post. The highest bidding offer may get the piece.
Furthermore, the art-making activity was originally a part of their academic requirements, but the institution decided to make these artworks as an instrument for community response.
“The initiative was conceptualized as a way for students to respond to a community need through their artworks, which were originally created as part of their academic requirements.” they said
