PASIG CITY— NBA mania exploded at Dave & Buster’s in Opus Mall, Bridgetowne, as Disney+ and ESPN hosted their inaugural watch party on October 22, 2026. Die-hard fans, social media personalities and prominent personalities from the Philippine basketball community including Meralco Bolts star Chris Newsome and Javi Gómez de Liaño from the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots packed the venue to witness the opening-week showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. 

The electric atmosphere marked a monumental milestone for local hoops fans as Disney+ officially introduced ESPN to its streaming platform in the country.

The action on screen lived up to the hype as the Los Angeles Lakers dominated the Golden State Warriors, securing a decisive 127-105 victory in their 2026-2027 season opener. 

Proving their depth in their first game without LeBron James, the Lakers outpaced Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and the rest of the Warriors squad from the opening whistle. 

Fans in attendance cheered every highlight, experiencing high-definition live streaming paired with expert commentary that brought the court right to the heart of Pasig City.

The exclusive gathering served as the cornerstone event for Disney+ Philippines’ Super Sports Week, running from October 19 to 25. Under the brand-new campaign slogan "Ito ang Homecourt Mo!", ESPN on Disney+ officially becomes the unified destination for sports enthusiasts nationwide. 

Filipino subscribers can now seamlessly access live game coverage, studio programs, and premium sports documentaries alongside Disney+’s signature catalog of general entertainment and family movies.

Looking ahead, local subscribers are set for an action-packed 2026–27 season. Beyond opening week, ESPN on Disney+ will broadcast all marquee Christmas Day doubleheaders including the high-stakes rematch between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks as well as comprehensive postseason coverage through the Conference Finals and NBA Finals.
