Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla stated that it would be bloody and violent if authorities forcibly arrest Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
Remulla also said that Dela Rosa is allegedly being protected by an armed group; that’s why it’s challenging for the authorities to enter his hiding place. He also stated that as many as 10,000 people could die if authorities will forcibly arrest the Senator. Hence, officials are working in a proper and peaceful way.
“In exchange for hanggang 10 libong pwedeng mamatay, I would rather negotiate first than cost the lives of Filipinos,” Remulla said
“You don’t always solve problems with hammer. Sometimes you solve things better in a more peaceful and humane,” he said
Meanwhile, according to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the Senator must surrender so that no more blood will be shed.
“Sumuko ka na kasi para wala ng dugong dadanak,” she said
Castro also stated that those sheltering the Senator must not allow themselves to be used, and that the law shall prevail.
“Doon sa mga nagkakanlong, alam po natin na dapat nating pairalin ang batas, so huwag kayong magsilbi na kasangkapan ng mga taong dapat na nadidinig din o mga taong dapat napapanagot sa batas,” she said
