The Philippine Sepak Takraw national team delivered a masterclass in grit and high-flying athleticism at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, securing a historic two-medal showcase on the continental stage. 

In a monumental leap forward for the sport, the Women’s Doubles squad clinched a ground-breaking silver medal, while the Men’s Regu team fought valiantly to earn a prestigious bronze, firmly establishing the Philippines as a rising elite power in Asian sports.  

In the Women’s Doubles final at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Gymnasium, team captain Abegail Sinogbuhan, Jean Marie Sucalit, and Nelly Jay Salon pushed regional powerhouse Vietnam to the edge before securing the silver. 

Reaching the championship showdown after a series of commanding victories over Japan, India, and Laos, the Filipina spikers showcased relentless defensive scrambles and explosive acrobatic attacks. 

The historic second-place finish marks a monumental  achievement for the Philippine women’s sepak takraw program in Asian Games history.  

Not to be outdone, the Men’s Sepak Takraw Regu squad locked down a hard-earned bronze medal following intense, physical battle in the continental semifinals. 

The powerhouse lineup featuring Jason Huerte, Glindel Phori, Jom Lerry Rafael, Reynaldo Asilum Jr., and Ronsited Gabayeron staged a heroic effort against the continent's top-tier teams, executing clutch net play and sharp spikes that kept the nation on the edge of its seat.

These dual podium finishes represent years of sacrifice, unseen sweat, and relentless dedication from the national delegation. 

By taking down top-ranked opponents and asserting their dominance on the court, both the men’s and women’s teams have shattered long-standing barriers, inspiring a new generation of Filipina and Filipino athletes back home.
