PNPA Acting Director PBGen. Red Maranan signed the dismissal order on April 22, 2026, of the seven cadets linked to the hazing incident at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) last April 3.
“Tanggal na sila. Tanggal na. They will no longer be allowed inside camp premises sapagkat hindi na sila kadete,” he said
[“They are out. They are dismissed. They will no longer be allowed inside camp premises because they are no longer cadets.”]
With this, the academy will implement reforms to end hazing, including the installation of CCTV cameras both inside and outside the barracks.
“Maglalagay tayo ng mga CCTVs sa loob na rin ng barracks, sa paligid ng barracks, sa loob ng classrooms, at lahat ng mga areas kung saan nagkakaroon ng iba’t ibang activities ang mga kadete,” the Director said
[“We will install CCTV inside the barracks, around the barracks, inside the classrooms, and all areas where various activities of cadets take place.”]
Additionally, tactical officers overseeing the cadets will be using body-worn cameras.
Aside from the dismissal of the seven cadets, two police tactical officers are also facing criminal cases in connection with the incident.
“Yung batas na Anti-Hazing Law, pag nangyari sa training institution ay mayroon ding pananagutan yung mga direct supervisor na nakaduty,” PBGen Maranan explained
[“Under Anti-Hazing Law, when the incident occurs within the training institution, the direct supervisors on duty are also held accountable.”]
The PNPA Director also clarified that the majority of the cadets are committed to following the policies of the academy.
“Hindi lahat ng kadete ay gusto ang hazing. Majority of our cadets ay gustong sumunod doon sa ating mga policy na ipinatutupad.” he said
[“Not all cadets favor hazing. The majority of our cadets want to adhere to the policies that we are implementing.”]
