The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) clarified that water supply in Metro Manila remains sufficient for now.

NWRB Executive Director Dr. Sevilio David Jr. clarified that amid rising concerns over potential water shortages due to the threat of Super El Niño.

“Normal at sapat po ang supply na mararanasan ng mga kababayan po natin dito po sa Metro Manila,” he said

However, preparations are still necessary for potential water shortages because the rainfall will be minimal, which could consequently impact dam levels.

David noted that the NWRB, together with concerned agencies, is already managing water allocations to ensure sufficient supply for consumers.

He also stated that the allocation is set at 44 cubic meters per second. However, he clarified that reducing allocation does not mean a drop in water rates, as the MWSS and other concessionaires can utilize alternative sources to ensure stable water flow for consumers across Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Aside from monitoring and managing Angat Dam, they are also doing that in water treatment facilities in Laguna Lake, Cavite, and Parañaque.

Despite the current supply being sufficient for now, the NWRB emphasized that consumers must practice water conservation.
