MANILA – A low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored east of the Philippines may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 2 AM Monday, the LPA was located 2,090 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas and remained outside PAR.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the weather disturbance is still too far to affect conditions in the country.

The LPA, however, could develop into a tropical cyclone by Thursday or Friday.

Meanwhile, generally fair weather with isolated rain showers is expected across the Philippines on Monday.

The southwest monsoon, or habagat, is affecting the western section of Southern Luzon and may bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.
