The Sandiganbayan anti-graft court on June 2, deferred the scheduled arraignment of Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada and former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan over graft charges involving alleged flood control anomalies.

Both officials arrived at the Quezon City courthouse prepared for the proceedings before the court granted separate motions for postponement.

The anti-graft court rescheduled the formal reading of charges to Thursday, June 4, 2026. Defense lawyers secured the two-day delay by citing immediate health and official conflicts.

Bonoan’s legal counsel requested the postponement due to concerns over the former Public Works chief's hypertension, while Senator Estrada sought a reset to attend to his pressing legislative duties in the Senate.

The court accepted both justifications, temporarily pausing the high-profile case that probes irregularities in the government's flood mitigation projects.
