The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) has warned the public against the circulating fake news on social media regarding the Hibok-Hibok Volcano eruption.

The agency stated that those circulating claims are fake news and clarified that there has been no recorded activity from the volcano.

The volcano located on Camiguin Island remains under Alert Level 0. PHIVOLCS defines Alert Level 0 as a quiet state, and there is no foreseeable eruption.

The agency reminded the public to refrain from believing and sharing unverified information and to rely solely on official updates from their social media platforms and website.
