MANILA - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed local government units (LGUs) in areas likely to be affected by the possible Super Typhoon Uwan to complete the evacuation of residents from high-risk communities by Sunday.
The DILG emphasized that all LGUs must ensure that evacuation centers are ready, fully stocked with essential supplies, and equipped with reliable sources of electricity.
The department also reminded local officials to maintain proper management of evacuees to ensure their safety and well-being while staying in temporary shelters.
Authorities further instructed LGUs to prepare contingency plans for what they described as possible “worst-case or likely scenarios” once Uwan enters the Philippine area of responsibility and intensifies.
The DILG urged all local governments to stay in constant coordination with their respective Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (RDRRMCs) for timely updates and immediate response measures as the country braces for the approaching weather disturbance.
