MANILA—The DFA Emissaries secured their spot in the next round of the UVL Season after delivering a crushing straight-sets victory against the MMDA Lady Spikers on May 13 at the Paco Arena.
The Emissaries maintained their composure through tight sets, finishing with a 27-25, 25-21, and 25-19 scoreline.
This crucial sweep effectively propelled the DFA into the number 8 seed of the tournament standings, ensuring their survival and shifting the momentum in their favor as they advance to the quarterfinals.
Justine Rebleza emerged as the undisputed engine of the Emissaries' offense, earning the Best Player of the Game honors.
Rebleza put up an explosive performance with a total of 26 points, fueled by 25 successful attacks and one service ace.
Taking the charge for her team, she played with a "nothing to lose" mentality, pushing her teammates to go all out in their final preliminary game to ensure they entered the next round with high morale and a winning rhythm.
Reflecting on the hard-fought journey to the preliminaries, Rebleza emphasized the grit required to stay in contention.
“Sobrang tinrabaho po namin to kasi di rin talaga madali na makapasok dito sa Top 8,” she shared after the match.
