Chilean President Gabriel Boric has declared a state of catastrophe in the regions of Ñuble and Biobío due to extreme wildfire. Eventually, more than 10 individuals died from the incident.
“As you know, early this morning, at around 2:30 AM, I made the decision to declare a state of catastrophe to the severity of these fires, in order to facilitate fire containment efforts, support logistical operations, and improve safety conditions in the affected areas.” President Boric said
More than 50,000 residents are needed to evacuate, and more than 200 houses were destroyed in the cities near the coastal city of Concepcion.
President Boric ensures that authorities are working to ensure public safety amidst wildfire combat.
