The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) calls on private colleges and universities to defer their plan to increase the tuition fee.

According to CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley Agrupis, “this is not the right time to increase tuition fee.”

This is the response of the commission to the requests from private schools to raise tuition fees for the upcoming school year.

While the CHED understands the operating expenses of the private educational institutions, the commission remains firm in its decision to postpone tuition hikes amidst the current crisis.

Additionally, the budget for state universities and colleges for the academic year 2026 to 2027 has already been concluded.

“We have already presented to DBM, but that is only for government-funded,” Dr. Agrupis said
