Approximately 139,000 tricycle drivers in Metro Manila will receive ₱5,000 cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on March 17, 2026, under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
According to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the only requirement to claim the cash assistance is to present the original and a photocopy of the driver’s license.
[“To our drivers, the requirement to bring is simple: a driver’s license, original and one photocopy. That’s it, no other documents. This is in accordance with the directive of our President to help our drivers, while ensuring the quick process.”]
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez clarified that this initiative is different from the fuel subsidy distribution under DOTr.
Alalahanin natin na mayroon ding ₱2.5-B fuel subsidy under DOTr,” he said
[“I’d like to clarify that these are two separate programs. Under AICS, that’s five thousand. Let us also remember that there is also a ₱2.5 billion fuel subsidy under DOTr.”
