Malacañang has issued a reaction regarding the surprise rally staged by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) in EDSA and White Plains on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, a rally is not the answer to absolve Senator Rodante Marcoleta in his case.
[“Staging a rally is not the answer to erase or immediately absolve a person from a case. The acquittal of a person takes place in court.”]
Castro also stated that President Bongbong Marcos Jr. listens to the public’s appeal regarding transparency, accountability, and law enforcement; She emphasized that President Bongbong Marcos Jr. is actively addressing those concerns.
[“This cannot be settled through a rally, but the President listens to what your are mentioning regarding the desire for transparency, accountability, law enforcement, and that is what the President is doing. Since he seated in the position, since he saw the anomalies in flood control projects, he really wanted to be transparent.”]
Usec. Castro also stated that President Marcos Jr. respects the viewpoint of INC regarding transparency, accountability, and law enforcement. The Palace believes that these principles should be enforced regardless of religion, political color, ally, or idol.
[“The President believes in the stance of INC. Implement the law, transparency, and accountability. Hold those who need to be held accountable, and that is what the administration is doing. If Senator Marcoleta, who's a member of INC, needs to be accountable, shouldn't we push for that too? Because all of us here should believe in holding accountable those who allegedly committed a crime or violated a law. The President believes even more that this is what the INC will support – no matter who will face the charges, whether member or not, a political color, an ally, or an idol. It should be equal. And that is also what the INC wants.”]

- Sen.
