Republic Gas Corporation (REGASCO) implemented a staggered price adjustment for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) products on April 6, 2026, following movements in international contract prices.
Currently, the suggested retail price of an 11-kg LPG cylinder in Luzon will now climb to ₱1,600.
According to REGASCO President and CEO and LPGMA Founder Arnel Ty, there are two primary factors of price hike: the increase in local freight and shipping costs.
He also explained that the shipping costs have surged by 4 to 5 times.
“Makikita po ninyo ang laking pagkakaiba ng shipping cost na sinasabi namin: it is times 4 and sometimes times 5,” he said
[“You can see the massive difference in the shipping costs we are referring to: it is times 4 and sometimes times 5.”]

The Department of the Interior and Local Government is set to intensify security layers in Metro Manila starting this April.
To ensure public safety, the agency has ordered the implementation of several restrictions in the region.
First, the ban on public drinking. SILG Remulla mentioned that drinking on roads is no longer allowed as it is one of the frequent sources of brawls and sexual harassment.
“Mayroon tayong Anti-Public Intoxication Act. Bawal na ang mag-inom sa kalye. Bawal na ang maglatag ng mga silya at mga lamesa sa mga kalye at mag-inuman,” SILG Remulla
[“We have the Anti-Public Intoxication Act. Drinking on the roads is now prohibited. Setting up chairs and tables on roads for drinking activities is no longer allowed.”]
“Doon nanggagaling, number one - ang away; number two - ang sexual harassment,” he added
[“That is where it starts, number one - brawls; number two - sexual harassment.”]
Also included in the ban is the use of videoke machines past 10:00 PM. Secretary Jonvic Remulla calls on the public to call 911 if the sessions continue beyond the designated time.
“Tumawag po kayo sa 911 at pupuntahan po ng pulis yan at papatigilin,” he said
[“You can call 911, and the police will go there and will shut it down.”]
The Secretary also calls on those using videoke machines to be considerate of their neighbors who need to sleep early and work the next day.
“May mga magulang diyan, alas 8, alas 9, tulog na. Magtatrabaho ’yan, alas 4, gising na. Matulog naman kayo, manapa, kung ayaw niyong matulog, magpatulog naman kayo,” he said
[“There are parents who are asleep by 8:00 or 9:00 PM. They’ll go to work - at 4:00 AM, they’re awake already.”]
Also, staying in public spaces while shirtless is also prohibited.
“Bawal na ang walang t-shirt na lalaki na palakad-lakad sa kalye,” he mentioned
[“Men walking around the roads without a t-shirt is no longer allowed.]
Sec. Remulla suggests that those feeling the heat may at least wear a sleeveless top.
“Kahit gaano kainit, magsando man lang kayo,” he said
[“No matter how hot it is, please at least wear a sando.”]
The DILG also plans to deploy 2 police officers in schools to ensure student safety. The Secretary suggests calling 911 if there are no available police on that day.
“Kung wala pong pulis sa inyong eskwelahan ay tumawag po kayo sa 911 at alertuhin niyo kami kung bakit wala doon at magde-deploy kaagad,” he advised
[“If there are no police officers at your school, call 911 and alert us so we can deploy personnel immediately.”]
The agency will also enforce an enhanced curfew for minors. If there is no proof of schooling or employment, minors are strongly advised to go home before 10:00 PM.
“Yung mga rugby boys dyan, yung mga geng-geng dyan, umuwi na kayo pag 10:00, huhulihin namin kayo,” he mentioned
[“To the rugby boys there, to the geng-geng there, go home by 10:00 AM, we’ll apprehend you.”]
According to PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the implementation of these ordinances will begin in Metro Manila before being expanded to other regions.
