The House prosecution panel believes that the withdrawal of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV from the witness list will not affect the strengths of its evidence in the impeachment article 2 or the alleged unexplained wealth.
The prosecution believes that their evidence is strong and they are confident in the credibility of their witnesses. They also denied the claim regarding the pressure on the prosecution coming from the senators.
“Wala po akong alam na ganyang pressure coming from the senators,” Lead Public Prosecutor Gerville Luistro said
“The only pressure that I can think of is the remaining witness that we have – we still need to present, including the documentary exhibits that they need to identify,” she clarified
Meanwhile, the defense team didn’t expect the withdrawal of Trillanes from the lineup of witnesses. Defense spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa emphasized that they respect the decisions and strategies of the prosecution regarding that matter.
“It’s always a prerogative naman ng prosecution at this point kung sino yung papatawagin nila na witness, sino yung gusto nilang i-drop for whatever reasons, so wala rin naman kaming issue po doon,” he said
