MANILA—The Judiciary Magis delivered a commanding performance to dismantle the GSIS Furies, 87-66, in UNTV Cup Season 12 on May 31 at the Paco Arena.
Veteran guard Chester Tolomia spearheaded the Magis' offensive onslaught from the opening tip, refusing to give their opponents any breathing room.
The decisive victory successfully elevated Judiciary to a 3-2 record, keeping them well within the hunt for a deeper playoff run.
Tolomia captured Best Player of the Game honors after exploding for a 29 points, pulling down five rebounds, and dishing out three assists.
The prolific scorer executed flawlessly on every possession, leaving no room for a GSIS comeback.
“Ni-remind sa amin ni Coach Gilbert na hindi kami pwede mag-kumpyansa lalo itong game namin ngayon kahit yung kalaban medyo down yung standing pero kailangan talaga namin ipakita sa kanila na kailangan namin manalo this game,” Tolomia said post-game, emphasizing the team's sharp focus despite the disparity in team records.
While the Magis celebrated their third victory, the blowout loss spelled absolute disaster for the GSIS Furies.
The defeat marked GSIS's fifth consecutive loss, mathematically booting them out of contention and making them the very first team to be eliminated this season.
Judiciary’s aggressive execution exposed the Furies' defensive gaps early on, effectively ending their Season 12 campaign in a heartbreaking, winless fashion.
