Armed Forces of the Philippines General Romeo Brawner Jr. stated that the gunshots heard inside the senate building did not come from their group.

The Marine Security and Escort Group personnel at the building on Wednesday night (May 13, 2026) were on duty as the Senate’s security detachment.

According to Brawner, the Office of the Sergeant at Arms (OSAA) allegedly started the gunfire. Based on the confirmation report from the commander deployed that night, the AFP didn’t initiate the gunshot.

He further stated that the incident wouldn’t lead to destabilization, as it is clear in the directive that all military personnel should remain calm, disciplined, and professional.
