Transport group PISTON proceeded with its planned 2-day transport strike starting on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

According to PISTON National President Mody Floranda, based on their data, around 5,000 to 7,000 participants directly joined in the National Capital Region (NCR).

He noted that they continue to observe a decline in the number of jeepneys operating in several areas across NCR due to the strike.

PISTON President Floranda also stated that they are open to talking with the government after the transport strike.

“Bukas tayo (na) makipag-usap pero hindi ngayon. Hindi sa gitna ng welga. Tatapusin natin itong dalawang araw ng welga, bago tayo makipag-usap sa LTFRB o sa DOTr,” he said

PISTON emphasized that they will stand firm on the position on the April’s petition seeking a P10 fare increase, as well as tax reductions on petroleum products.
