The Philippines and South Korea signed 10 agreements covering a wide range of areas during the state visit of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and President Lee witnessed the presentation of the signed agreements, which span defense, agriculture, economics, digitalization, and other fields.

In his statement, Marcos said the two countries concluded agreements in the fields of defense materials procurement, veterans affairs, agriculture, trade, investment and economic cooperation, intellectual property, digital cooperation, digitalization and innovation, Korean language training in schools, cultural cooperation, and police cooperation. He said these agreements will sustain the momentum of the Philippines-Republic of Korea Strategic Partnership going forward.

"We concluded a number of agreements in the fields of defense materials procurement, veterans affairs, agriculture, trade, investment and economic cooperation, intellectual property, digital cooperation, digitalization and innovation, Korean language training in schools, cultural cooperation, and police cooperation, which will sustain the momentum of the Philippines-Republic of Korea Strategic Partnership for the future," PBBM said.

President Lee, for his part, pledged continued support for the policies being pursued by the Marcos administration. He expressed support for the Philippine president's infrastructure policy and said South Korea will work closely with the Philippines in that area. Lee also said he would support Korean defense industry firms in playing an active role in the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Marcos said the two leaders also discussed key regional issues, including the South China Sea and the Korean Peninsula. Both leaders underscored the importance of upholding the rules-based international order, particularly in the maritime domain.

The Philippine president also expressed gratitude to South Korea for its support in the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the strengthening of the Philippine Coast Guard, investments, key infrastructure projects, the use of artificial intelligence, and the protection of more than 70,000 Filipinos living and working in the Republic of Korea.
