The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will investigate the alleged online threats and comments against Senator Risa Hontiveros.

According to NBI Director Melvin Matibag, they are currently waiting for the formal documentation regarding this matter. 

He also assured that the bureau will conduct a case buildup, so they can file charges before the Department of Justice (DOJ) once the concrete evidence is available. 

In a social media post, the Senator mentioned the threats to her life following the killing of political vlogger Mima Alicia. 

“Sa halip na makiramay, may mga nagdiriwang sa gitna ng kamatayan at nag-uudyok pa ng karahasan. Ngayon naman, marami rin ang tahasang nagbabanta na ako daw "ang susunod,” she said

Hontiveros emphasized that death threats should never be normalized in society. The PNP has earlier arrested two suspects involved in Mima Alicia’s killing.
