The project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital (UP - PGH) is nearly 30% complete, according to Secretary Vince Dizon.
“So ang maganda ngayon, in only 3 months since we were here in June, we have moved from 2% to close to 30% already,” he said
The project includes drainage improvement, a septic tank sewage treatment plant (STP), road network, fencing, and repainting of several buildings.
Secretary Dizon stated that the top priority of the project is the drainage and roads. This is linked to the flooding experienced in the area, where floodwaters enter parts of PGH, affecting both patients and hospital employees.
The secretary added that the drainage system will be finished by the end of the year, while the target completion for the entire project is set for the first quarter of next year.
“Hopefully by the end of the year, tapos na yung drainage,” he said
“Pero by early part of next year — first quarter of next year — tapos na lahat,” he added
Dizon also stated that they also plan to upgrade the drainage system along Taft Avenue and Padre Faura.
