The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has announced a ban on drinking on roads.

“Mayroon tayong Anti-Public Intoxication Act. Bawal na ang mag-inom sa kalye. Bawal na ang maglatag ng mga silya at ng mga lamesa sa mga kalye at mag-inuman,” according to DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla

[“We have the Anti-Public Intoxication Act. Drinking on the roads is now prohibited. Setting up chairs and tables on roads for drinking activities is no longer allowed.”]

This move is a part of the agency’s campaign to lower the crime rate. According to Secretary Remulla, such activities are a frequent source of brawls and sexual harassment.

In response to these issues, the agency will strictly enforce the ban and ensure that violators face consequences.

“Pasensyahan tayo, pag kayo mag-inuman sa kalye, huhulihin namin kayo,” SILG Remulla added
