The online gaming platform Roblox has responded to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), addressing serious concerns regarding the child safety feature.

According to DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, there have been reported incidents where Roblox was utilized for sexual predation, grooming, and exploitation of minors.

The agency previously considered banning the platform if Roblox didn’t respond and take necessary actions to enhance the safety features. However, Roblox has cooperated with the DICT, so it remains accessible in the Philippines.

With this, Roblox will disable the chat feature for children unless permitted by their parents. The platform’s chat feature has been identified as a tool used by some pedophiles, pretending to be a kid to communicate with young users.

The DICT calls on the parents to always monitor their children’s activities across all online platforms.
