MANILA—The DENR Lawin Spikers made a thunderous entrance into the UNTV Volleyball League Season 4, clinching a decisive victory over fellow newcomers MMDA Lady Spikers last February 25, 2026, at the Paco Arena in Manila in a clean slate, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-16).

While the league’s opening ceremonies were held just days prior at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, the action shifted to the Paco hardwood for this highly anticipated clash of the debutants. 

The Lawin Spikers wasted no time establishing their presence, utilizing a relentless offensive attack and airtight floor defense to outmaneuver the MMDA squad in a straight-sets masterclass that signaled their intent to be serious title contenders.

Best player of the game was given to Regine Cabrera for an outstanding performance of 21 points featuring her 17 attacks and 4 service aces.

Cabrera shared her excitement playing in the UNTV Volleyball League as it was her first time representing DENR Lawin Spikers.

“To be honest po, sobrang excited ako kasi first time ko pong sumali dito and sobrang happy ako na kasama ko yung DENR para irepresent at makasama sila.” Regine Cabrera said in a post interview with Ms. Rheena Villamor-Camara.

From the opening serve, the atmosphere at Paco Arena was electric as both government agencies brought their "A-game" to the court for their first-ever league appearance. 

The MMDA Lady Spikers showed flashes of brilliance with gritty rallies and tactical serves, but they ultimately struggled to ground the high-flying Lawin Spikers, who capitalized on every transition opportunity. 

This win not only marks a historic first for the DENR volleyball program but also sets the stage for a competitive season where every "Win for Charity" counts.
