The OCTA Research has reported a drop in self-rated poverty in the last quarter of 2025.
The survey was conducted from December 10 to 14, 2025, through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents nationwide.
According to the information reflected in the Tugon ng Masa survey, 37% of the Filipinos rated themselves as poor. This is 17% lower compared to the record from September, 54%. This decline means that about 4.5 million families are no longer declaring themselves poor.
The group considered this drop as the largest single-quarter decline recorded in the OCTA Tugon ng Masa series.
Additionally, self-rated food poverty also drops by 19%, from the 3rd quarter’s 49% down to 30%, meaning 5 million families have sufficient access to food.
The OCTA also recognized that poverty and hunger rates remain high in Mindanao compared to Luzon and Visayas.
Hence, the group suggests implementing continuous and targeted programs for the poor to achieve lower rates of poverty and hunger in the next quarter.
